COMPETITION RULES

The IOF Foot Orienteering Competition Rules 2010 and the Italian Orienteering Federation (FISO) rules will be applied in both competitions. Maps will be drawn according to ISSOM standard for the sprint competition and ISOM standard for long distance competition.

TERRAIN DESCRIPTION

Sprint: it will be mixed, as the runners will be challenged by two different kinds of terrain. Both a fast forest alternated by open areas and characterized by the presence of many paths and typical italian urban terrain, comprising a detailed pattern of narrow streets in the centre of the village (closed to traffic) will be visited. Fast map reading and decision making as well as the ability to handle typical sprint route choices will be keys for success!

Long: the forest, namely "Alpe di Monghidoro", is located at an altitude between 800 and 1200 metres above sea level. Gentle forms are alternated to steeper slopes; both land forms and rocky features characterize the most detailed areas. Runnability is generally good, apart some thicker areas. Visibility can vary from very good to reduced, depending on the different types of vegetation (both beech and conifers are present).

Two brand new maps will be drawn for the event!

Anti-Doping Code

Doping is forbidden. The organisers are committed to do everything required to support the official anti-doping authorities in the successful and transparent realisation of their work. Please refer to the IOF Anti-Doping rules.

EMBARGOED AREAS

The organising committee remarks that the italian FISO technical rules (RTF) are applied as far as embargo is concerned. The areas interested by the two competitions are embargoed; FISO has confirmed on 06 June 2009 the information sent by the organising committee, hence starting from 07 June 2009 the embargo applies. For details about the areas and regulations, please contact the organising committee.
